I am a physician and was actually told of Dr. MacGillivray by a drug company sales rep who had him do her surgery. My troubles with the right knee began as a result of a skiing accident at Whiteface mountain in 1984. I torn my ACL and both internal and lateral meniscus.

Because I was in medical school and could not afford time off, I never did anything about it. I let it heal with time. I was a track runner and played a lot of soccer as well, so I kept on doing strenuous activities.

In 2000, I had a medial meniscectomy at another institution and everything was fine for the next 15 yrs.

In August of 2014 while riding my racing bicycle on a Sunday morning, I crashed and reinjured my right knee again. Again, I thought it would just heal itself, but this time, with going to work and continuing to cycle and run, it got really bad to the point I could barely walk. MRI revealed a macerated posterior horn of the lateral meniscus. I saw Dr. MacGillivray, who assured me I would be back to my normal routine the very next day after the procedure. I didn't believe him! But incredibly enough, I was able to return to work and walk normally the very next day. Unbelievable! No pain, no need for even Tylenol, no crutches, no cane, nothing. As if nothing ever happened to me. I've been back to work for a week now and have no limitations of pain, range of motion and my stride. I am very eager to start running and cycling again. I will wait the 4 weeks and believe me, I will be out there skiing, running, cycling and yes, playing soccer. I do not feel any restriction whatsoever. My surgery was a wonderful gift from Dr MacGillivray and Hospital for Special Surgery. So good to be active and loving it. Thank you so much.
