I injured my knee in 2007 and waited to have surgery because I had lung surgery in 2006 and didn't want to have any kind of surgery. I am 67 years old and decided it was time to get surgery. The pain had become intolerable. A co-worker had been to Dr. MacGillivary and had recommended him. From my first visit, I was impressed with Dr. MacGillivary and his office team. I told him that there was no way I could be "disabled" by meniscus surgery. He promised I would not be. His staff advised that they do not write "disability notes" because Dr. MacGillivary does not disable people, he fixes people. I had surgery on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving 2015 and was walking the same day and on Thursday I made stuffing from scratch, stuffed a turkey and had a great family dinner. On Monday, November 30, I went back to commuting from Long Island (almost 2 hours each way, door to door) and went to work. I am so grateful to Dr. MacGillivary, his fantastic office team and the HSS team on the 9th Floor, including my nurse Grace and later Nicole. Everyone I met at HSS was pleasant and caring. Thank you all so much.
